Milton & Roswell Interior Design Spotlight: A Soulful Family Home with Modern Warmth

Milton & Roswell Interior Design Spotlight: A Soulful Family Home with Modern Warmth

By Live&Gather Co. | Roswell Interior Designer

After spending two years in a short-term rental while building his new home in Roswell, GA, my client, a busy attorney, devoted dad, and kids’ basketball coach, reached out with a simple but heartfelt request to furnish his new home for his family:

“I’ve waited so long, I just don’t want to mess it up.”

He had the bones of a beautiful new construction home, but he wanted it to feel intentional, peaceful, and complete. That’s where my team and I came in. As a Roswell interior designer serving families across Alpharetta, Milton, and the greater North Atlanta area, our goal was to help him move beyond “just finished” to fully lived-in.

A Minimalist Foundation, Elevated with Texture and Warmth

This client is a minimalist at heart, he gravitates toward calm, neutral palettes with thoughtful details. Instead of leaning on color, we used texture, natural materials, and art to create depth and personality. Every room tells part of his story: grounded, modern, and full of quiet confidence.

In the open-concept great room, we layered tone-on-tone neutrals and tactile fabrics to keep the space airy yet defined. The focal point is a striking painting of James Baldwin by Atlanta-based artist Jerell Gantt (@imitationbyjerell), a bold and soulful moment that captures the essence of the home. It’s masculine and sophisticated, much like the client himself.

Designing for Real Life: A Home That Helps You Exhale

With three kids constantly on the move — sports, school, and everything in between, this dad wanted a home that felt like an exhale. Beyond aesthetics, he needed functional design that supports real family life.

Each child’s bedroom was designed to reflect their personalities while still feeling timeless. The boys’ shared space features a playful, custom sports installation, a nod to their dad’s coaching and their shared love of basketball, soccer and football. His daughter’s room is soft and affirming, filled with creative touches that celebrate her individuality and confidence.

Through our full home furnishing process, we curated every detail, from furniture and lighting to artwork and accessories, so each room felt cohesive and complete.

Smart Solutions for a Narrow Basement

The basement design presented one of our biggest challenges, and also our most rewarding transformation. My client dreamed of a home bar, but the narrow footprint and main walkway from the garage made it tricky.

We transformed a small storage closet into a sleek dry bar, maximizing every inch. A floating bar top adds casual dining space without crowding the walkway, perfect for game days and easy entertaining. It’s proof that even small or awkward spaces can shine with thoughtful, full-service interior design.

A New Chapter, Fully Realized

After two years in limbo, this home represents a long-awaited new beginning. What started as a blank canvas became a layered, soulful retreat for a hardworking dad and his kids, a space that reflects not just their lifestyle, but their story.

At the final reveal, I asked him one simple question:

“Does this feel like you?”

He smiled and said, “It really does.”

And that’s the best kind of success, a home that feels deeply personal, lived-in, and loved.
